Time seems to be flying in some respects yet slow in others. There is so much we want to accomplish on this island and pray that we can reach our goals.
This week was rather slow because we took our truck in for repairs so we were without transportation for 4 days. It will take 2 weeks before we will get the truck back, but it will be nice to have it repaired. We did walk into town most days which is good for us. The hard part is the streets and sidewalks are very uneven and easy to trip on. Allot of the sidewalks and some of the streets are cobblestone which we have been told were layed by slaves years ago (scroll down to a previous post for pictures). Got a rental car on Saturday just in time to go to the airport (1 3/4 hours away) to pick up the Elders returning from Puerto Rico and dropped them off at their Portsmouth apartment. We will keep the car for one week and then on foot for another 3 days.
It is amazing to see how the Lord helps us in this work. I learned there is an avon representive here in Roseau and I needed a couple of things so I contacted the lady and she came to our apartment along with her husband and 3 children. We had the opportunity to talk about the Gospel with them and gave them a copy of the Book of Mormon.
As we were more homebound than usual we (mostly Elder Pitman) worked on the open house we plan to have next month. It is starting to come together and will be quite an undertaking. It will involve all of the Branch both in Roseau and the people in Portsmouth.

Yesterday we had a wonderful visit with the brother of our neighbors, Therese and Virginia. He has expressed to us that we will make a difference on this island. We will meet with him on Tuesday along with the Elders to give him the first discussion. Also we got an email from a man (Charles) who we gave a copy of the Book of Mormon about 2 months ago and as we followed up with an email he wrote right back to have us come and visit him which we will do this afternoon after we pick up our truck which is now repaired. We are REALLY busy with the work, and happy to be doing it.
We had one of our gators (AKA investigator), Charles, to Church this week. He is very excited about learning more about the Gospel.
Mangos are just starting to ripen now. I found a man who picked a dozen for me to buy and they are already eaten up. Yum!
We are working (mostly Elder Pitman) on an open house for February 12. We hope to introduce lots of our neighbors to the Church and hopefully get some investigors. All of the members will participate and we hope to have a superb turnout.
